The latest technology updates & more!
The social media town square X or (Formerly Twitter) is now fully capable of making video and audio calls for all users. There is no restriction to the people without checkmarks and the people who paid for it.
Another unique aspect of X’s this new feature, users now can make the calls without giving away any of their personal info such as phone number. You don’t have to get enrolled in the X premium package to enjoy these services.

The news about making the Audio and Video call on X free to all users came right after the recent comment from Elon Musk about Xmail. Enrique Barragan, Engineer at X broke the news on social media platform tweeting –
“we’re slowly rolling out audio and video calling to non premium users, try it out! now you can also choose allow calls from everyone,”
Here’s how to do it-
Again, users can tinker the settings to further modify the call types, and more.
X’s new setting is called Enhanced Call Privacy, its job is to protect your privacy. Make sure to enable the settings to protect your IP address to be shown to the other users on X. Enabling this setting will allow your call to be relayed through X infrastructure, which will mask your IP address from the call on the other end.
Here’s how to to do it –
You can always disable the settings, which will route your call though peer-to-peer route instead of getting connected through X infrastructure.
Users will only be able to call from accounts they follow or in the address book. An interaction is needed between two accounts for one of them to make a call to another. A form of DM is one of the most simple ways to make the interaction.
Users are also allowed to tweak the settings to block the calls, and decide the call from the right person.
The feature was not nothing new to the X, before this update, only premium users had the perk of using audio and video calls. Rolling out a free audio and video call feature will surely go head to head with other competitors such as Google or Meta’s WhatsApp.
The feature was only available to iOS users, then earlier this year, the feature was open to Android users, but again, accessing this feature was limited to premium users. But now free X users can enjoy these services without getting into any subscription package.
