Cybertruck is an all-electric pickup motortruck developed by Tesla, Inc. since 2023. In 2019, it was introduced as a concept vehicle. It was unveiled by Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk. It has a triangular body design with plain sheet metallic panels made of stainless steel. And Cyber truck gained significant attention owing to its unconventional, angular design and the use of an exoskeleton made of ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel. And its exterior is made up bullet-resistant to some extent.
Initially, Tesla was aiming to bring forward the vehicle into production in 2021. But after some series of delays, production Cybertrucks were firstly delivered to customers in late November 2023. Three models are extended like trimotor all-wheel drive (AWD) “Cyber beast”, a dual-motor AWD model, and a rear-wheel drive (RWD) model, with EPA range estimates of 250–340 miles (400–550 km).
On the release of the Tesla Cybertruck, several safety concerns are emerged related to the durability of the vehicle’s windows and its potential safety hazard as it would hurt the electric vehicle industry and make pedestrians unsafe. The electric pickup truck’s stiff stainless-steel exoskeleton may hurt pedestrians, cyclists and damage other vehicles on the roads.
As Tesla streamed a live about the crash test videos during the launch program. “The big problem is if Tesla really make the Cybertruck stiff by using thick stainless steel, then when people hit their heads on it, it’s going to cause more damage to them” said Adrian Lund, the former president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Cyber Truck came with amazing features including the concept model. This is the system that recognizes the owner of the vehicle and unlocks it. It’s a system that has been tested and successful in Tesla’s Model X. It works through a key system provided in the Tesla app on the owner’s phone. Indications are that the door will be opened with the help of a sensor system when the phone comes close to the vehicle.
Elon Musk had previously revealed the mechanical features of the Cyber Truck. This vehicle has a range of about 810 km on a single charge. The 810 km range model of the Cyber Truck has a triple motor all-wheel drive system. It has a load capacity of 14,000 pounds. This model accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. The pickup truck can reach a maximum speed of 210 kmph. Tesla plans to ramp up production of the Cyber Truck by 2024. Tesla aims to sell 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh units per year with the Cyber Truck.
