Copilot AI coming to OneDrive: A File assistant on the Go!

Microsoft finally set to launch Copilot AI for OneDrive in the later weeks of April 2024. The implementation of AI will make everything much easier to handle the documents.

Just last week, the news broke out about Android users having the ability to make Microsoft’s Copilot AI as a default assistant on their devices. Now we are seeing the same AI rolling out in our professional life.

Copilot offers a far more interactive experience to the OneDrive, with the implementation of AI. OneDrive will provide seamless access to all of your documents, spreadsheet, and other files with just a question.

Ask questions and get immediate answer

Instead of going through each one of the documents one by one to find the one that you desire, now you have a Copilot on the backseat. You will just have to insert a prompt, and the AI then will immediately navigate through all of your files to fetch the data you need.

The prompts can be as specific as you want them to be –

“Compile the result of last week’s test and put it in a table.”

The AI can even call out subheadings of the files you have stored in OneDrive.

What are the characteristics of the Deep Water Learning project?

You can even ask about the recent development of the project“

“Show me the recent changes done to the Deep Water Learning project.”

Or

List out the early entries of the Deep Water learning project.

Create Outlines

The Copilot AI will simply create a format of your liking to the file. The AI is capable of creating a list, table, outline, reference, and many more. You can also choose to be specific on your demand or requirements.

If you want the table to list out names, current year, project name, project year, locations, systems, and many more. The Ai will happily sort all of it out for you instantly.

Make improvements to documents

The Copilot AI will also help you make your spreadsheet, document, or a simple presentation better than the original. You can ask the Copilot AI for areas for improvement and it will suggest making changes to the document to elevate its content.

Laying out summaries

Looking for a quick summary of the entire project so you don’t have to scroll down for minutes on end? Then Copilot AI will quickly summarize the content not just one, but for multiple files that go for PDFs right away.

You don’t have to sift through each page with a mouse wheel anymore. You can just ask for a summary as – Summarize the vital points of the Deepwater learning project.

These are some of the specific tasks that now can be done with a single prompt instead of killing hours on end to find it. The copilot AI will handle most of the issues that everybody faces looking at their drive folder.

Copilot AI Compatibility data types

It is compatible with the followings file types :

  • New Microsoft 365 formats: FLUID, LOOP
  • Office documents: DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, XLSX
  • Universal formats: PDF, TXT, RTF
  • Web files: ASPX, HTM, HTML
  • OpenDocument formats: ODT, ODP

Copilot AI language support

The following release of Copilot AI for Microsoft 365 and OneDrive will support these languages – English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Chinese (Simplified).

Future Updates for Copilot AI

In the months of march and April, Microsoft will add more language support expanding to Arabic, Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

Another upcoming feature that will get added in the next month includes Copilot generated summaries. Basically, when you share a document with anyone, Copilot generated summaries will be added to give a quick overview or a context to the document.

The ability to share the summaries of the files will get added later months to make the system flow even better. The AI will be available for work and school consumers with Microsoft 365 license.

Now, the introduction of Copilot AI to OneDrive made the nightmare of navigating the messed library of OneDrive things of the past.
